SISU

The collection Sisu speaks about self-improvement and personal growth in reference to phobias.

In this line, the phobias this collection deals with are innumerable and irrational, caused by the lack of serotonin in the brain. Serotonin deficiency can cause pessimism, sadness, depression or anxiety, and even panic attacks, in the most extreme cases.

This collection speaks about how I have been dealing with this deficiency since my childhood and how it has evolved to my youth.

The concept of “Sisu” claims that this anomaly does not deprive the capacity for a normal life and represents both parts of this deficit - showing occasional obstacles and normality.

In this collection I have wanted to reflect both sides of my personal experience with the problem. All the pieces of the looks have side seams that allow colour changes to be made in contrast to the front and back.

I also wanted to represent my two biggest phobias that persist over time; blood and pigeons.
That’s why I represented those phobias as the only pieces that has not changes of colour and fabrics.

The forwards express the normality, the calm that I lived and that I’m currently living. I focused on transmitting the feeling of calm, organic shapes, lighter and warmer colours, and representing moments of calm for myself.
